5th December 2016

Christmas meal. Celebrate the year's photography with trophies for Best Photographer and Most Improved Photographer. Plan the next year's calendar.

15th January 2015

Good news - we have finally managed to book the Jubilee Hall for our Low Light / Still Life photography session. We have booked Monday 26th January from 7pm - please bring flash equipment, tripods and something interesting to photograph! We look forward to seeing you there...

29th December 2014

It seems that we are all in limbo between the festivities of Christmas and the celebrations to welcome the New Year in... If you are bored or at a loose end in the meantime, remember the last two competitions we set were:

a) The Shortest Day - any image taken on December 21st, and

b) Christmas in 3 objects - a still life opportunity;

We look forward to seeing your hard work on our next meeting at the Hall, January 5th at 7pm.

17th October 2014

At the last meeting at the hall, we had some excellent submissions for the competitions: Doddington Hall sculptures, Bailgate and uphill Lincoln and Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre.

Upcoming outings were confirmed as:

25th October, 10:50 meet at the Hall for an 11:00 visit to the Lincoln Arboretum - competition theme 'Signs of Autumn';

16th November, meet at 10:00 at the Hall for the Belton House trip, - competition theme 'Best of Belton House';

20th November, meet at 17:00 for the Lincoln Christmas Lights trip - N.B. Colin and Anna will not be free until later due to work committments so will meet you up there.

4th October 2014

UPDATE - BATEMAN's TRIP - Hi All, unfortunately, we haven't got enough confirmed numbers for the brewery trip (we do have to notify the Visitor Centre before we turn up) so are going to postpone until after the next meeting (Monday 6th October) when we can bully members to confirm their attendance in person... :-)

September - October 2014

Members visited the excellent Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre on Saturday 27th September - the staff there were very helpful, and there were lots of interesting artifacts to view and photograph. An excellent display of local WW2 history, and a hidden gem.

October 5th will see us venture across to the Bateman's Brewery in Wainfleet - hopefully a good time will be had by all, failing that, there must be a gift shop! Members to meet at 10:15 at the Jubilee Hall for lift sharing - the journey should take just over an hour, and the Visitor Centre opens at 11:30. If possible, please text or email to confirm your attendance, thanks.

September 2014

Due to the Jubilee Hall being unavailable, our September 'Hall' meet actually took place in the pub! We discussed our various ideas for outings, details to be confirmed very soon. It is noteworthy that there is another 'Lincolnshire Heritage' (free to explore) weekend taking place between the 11th and 14th of September 2014 - further details here. We are looking for the 'Best Heritage Shot' for our assignment / competition entries please.

if you fancy getting your skates on (or just some action shots of the skaters!) Lincoln Roller Rink will be set up in City Square for the weekend off the 20th-21st September... Also in town is the Antiques Fair on the 21st - possibly some interest finds and some interesting images to be found?!

Our next outing is at the Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre on Saturday 27th September 2014 - we will meet at the Jubilee Hall at 11:00 andf lift share amongst all of us who wish to attend.

October 5th is our intended date for the Bateman's Brewary trip - we are just waiting to hear back numbers-wise - more info coming soon!

August 2014

August was a deliberately quiet month for meetings, but some members did go out to Southwell Workhouse... finally! A great time was had by all and the weather held out very nicely. Some interesting shots from the group!

7th July 2014

Members met at the Jubilee Hall and shared a selection of photographs from the Pyewipe and Five Mile Lane outings - we also saw a selection of pictures from the airshow and people's trips away. It was decided that the month's outings would be as follows:

Wednesday 16th July - Bail area, Lincoln – Meet at Exchequergate at 19:30.

Saturday 26th July – Southwell Workhouse – Meet at Jubilee Hall at 09:30.

Any queries, please just get in touch - details at the foot of the page...

2nd June 2014

Members met at the Jubilee Hall and looked at a selection of images from Colin Ward. All present agreed that it was unfortunate that the last two planned outings had been cancelled due to bad weather. It was decided that the next outings would be Wednesday 11th June, meeting at the hall at 7pm to work out lifts required, then proceeding to the Pyewipe and surrounding areas. The second proposed outing was Five Mile Lane at Washingborough for some dusk and sunset images (weather permitting!!!) meeting at the Jubilee Hall at 8pm to share lifts as required.

24th May 2014

Thwarted by the weather! Thanks to those who met at the Butcher and Beast this morning, on balance, we decided that the Southwell trip would be better made without the addition of torrential rain... We hope to have more luck at taking the trip next month.

5th May 2014

Members met at the Hall to rate the images taken at Chambers Wood, and to decide the outings for the upcoming month. It was agreed that since the Newark & Nottinghamshire County Show is taking place on Saturday 10th/Sunday 11th May that people may wish to make their own way their for some interesting images. The second trip of the month has been suggested as Southwell / Southwell Workhouse, for some industrial shots. Members are to meet at the Butcher and Beast pub at 09:45 on Saturday 24th for lift sharing, as we are aiming to arrive to catch the tour at 11:00.

26th April 2014

Hi All, we are sorry to report that THE NEWARK CASTLE OUTING IS CANCELLED DUE TO BAD WEATHER - we can discuss and re-arrange at the next meeting in the hall - hope to see you there a week on Monday!

15th April 2014

Members met at Chambers Farm Wood near Bardney to take 'Signs of Sping' images for one of the month's competitions - those who couldn't make the 15th were still welcome to enter images taken at the same location at a slightly later date. Members intending to go on the outing met at the Butcher and Beast beforehand, and lift-sharing did occur, so we did our bit for the environment by car-sharing! The next outing is to Newark Castle, and surrounding areas, on Saturday 26th April - members to meet at the pub (again!) at 10:00 to ascertain how many cars we need to take across and who requires a lift.

7th April 2014

Members are to meet to discuss the previous month's photographs, the upcoming month's outings and the AGM business - papers here.

23rd March 2014

The assignment at Lincoln Castle was to take 'non-touristy' shots - the Discover Lincolnshire weekend granted free entry to a range of attractions throughout the county, and we enjoyed a roam around uphill Lincoln - some photographic evidence can be found here!

15th March 2014

The Anderby creek trip had a low turn out for assorted reasons, but the weather was gorgeous, and those that went enjoyed some lovely sunshine! Some of our images are here :-)

3rd March 2014

Our first proper meeting of the year in the Jubilee Hall went very well - after a brief walk around the excellent new facilities, members looked at the images gathered from our outing to Hartsholme Park. Colin Ward was deemed the winner of the competition with his picture of a lone bird, and Andy Sowerby's shot of a squirrel received second place. There was some critique of the images submitted, and the group discussed the month's upcoming outings, which are now in the calendar. The next HPS meeting at the Jubilee Hall will take place on April 7th from 7pm.

8th February 2014

We took a trip to Hartsholme Country Park today to try and get a few Wildlife shots... Sadly most of the Wildlife was either hiding somewhere warm and sensible to avoid the cold or had been scared off by the people and dogs! However, it was good to get out, and we did manage to capture a few images. N.B. Roll on the better weather!

3rd February 2014

Our first 'reboot' meeting of the new year took place in the Butcher and Beast pub.  A short but informal meeting allowed us to confirm that we will now meet on the first Monday of the month in the Jubilee Hall in Heighington, when we will discuss and decide what outings / excursions we would like to go on during the month.

Monday's meeting decided that our next outing will be from 2pm on Saturday 8th February at Hartsholme Park, Lincoln. We will meet at the cafe and proceed from there on. The competitive element will be to get the best Wildlife picture, and everyone can submit up to three images at the new HPS Competitions Flickr account - details forthcoming soon via email. Images will be judged against our existing criteria (Subject, Impact, Technical merit and Composition) and a winner will be decided at the next meeting.

We hope to see you at the weekend!

30th January 2014

Just to let you know, we will meet in the Butcher and Beast around 7pm on Monday 3rd February to decide what outings we would like to go on during the month. In future, we will be meeting on the first Monday of the month in the Jubilee Hall (please note change of venue!) 19:00-21:00, as the Village Hall is already in use... Hope to see you soon!

17th January 2014

Following this evening’s meeting we can confirm that HPS meetings will take place at 7pm on the first Monday of every month, subject to Hall availability (to be confirmed), with Saturday afternoon practical outings in the interim.

Our monthly meetings will be used for practical / educational sessions and deciding what outings and assignments to take in the interval between meetings.

Ray Swallow volunteered to write some publicity content for the club, and Freda Clarke agreed to stay on as Chair. Members came away positive with renewed enthusiasm.

Thanks to all who attended, and to those who provided feedback in their absence.
